An Appeal from our Medical Director
Author: Dr. David Miner, Medical Director
Since 2005, The Maliheh Free Clinic has filled a progressively larger, critical need in our community by providing very high quality, free healthcare to the those in the greatest need. Without the Maliheh Free Clinic, thousands of people in our community would literally have nowhere to go to receive their medical care. Their only resource would be a local emergency room. We are truly a “medical home” to thousands of people. The patients we serve look exactly like you and I do. As a Clinic, we are completely dependent on the goodwill and charitable donations of private individuals and corporations in our local community. We have the unique opportunity to work together, to make a tremendous difference in the lives of impoverished individuals and families.
Here at the Clinic, we are supported by over one hundred volunteer medical providers. In addition, over four hundred general support volunteers complement a small group of core staff members. At the Clinic, patients receive: primary preventative medical care, expert specialist care, comprehensive diabetes care, healthy living education, free prescription assistance for hundreds of medications, psychological counseling and support, etc. Truly, we are able to meet all of the patient’s need in a warm, loving, empowering, environment. Just over a year ago, as a result of generous giving, and years of hard work, we moved to a much larger, remodeled medical facility. This new location is allowing us to significantly increase the number of patient visits that we can provide.
Within the next twelve months, we will be able to complete 20,000 medical appointments! This number represents a 25% increase in the amount of help that we can provide, this is amazing! Consequently, The Maliheh Free Clinic is in great need of your continued support and generous donations in order to continue our critical role; to save thousands of people from the horrible, and tremendously costly consequences of poor health. Good health is essential for our patients in order to move forward in each and every aspect of their lives; to care for their families, and to, themselves, give back to our community.
